On several occasions this year, I’ve received emails asking similar questions to the ones below;
“I need to put in a basement dehumidifier and drain it outside house, so the drainage pipe will have to go uphill a few feet. What kind of pump should I get for this, and how do I use it with your dehumidifier?” – Dave
or
“I own this unit and want to utilize the continuous-drainage port. How?” – Camille
First, for those who have a floor drain or enough counter space near a sink, you can simply set the unit up and open/remove the access plate that covers the continuous drain port as shown below using wire cutters. Be advised that this is not reversible. Once the cover plate is cut loose and removed, the only way to re-attach it is to use glue or tape of some kind.

Then, simply attach a hose to the barbed connection found just behind the port cover as shown below. The hose needs to be a 15 millimeter or a 5/8 inch I.D. (inside diameter) hose.

Then re-install the sump tank (the unit will not operate without the tank installed.

Then you can simply route the hose to a sink or floor drain that is lower than the drain port of the CFM-40 dehumidifier.
If you don’t have a place to gravity drain the dehumidifier:
If the location you need to route the dehumidifier condensate to is a long way off or as high or higher than the dehumidifiers drain port, you will need to buy and use a condensate Sump Pump. Simply connect one hose to the dehumidifier as shown above, connect the other end to the condensate pump and lastly connect a hose to the outlet of the pump and route to the desired drain point.
Two pumps that work well with the CFM-40e are;
